Local student-athletes and coaches recently presented a $15,000 check to support the Road to Recovery program at MyMichigan Medical Center Sault, according to a community announcement.

The funds were raised through Hooping for a Cure, an annual basketball game dedicated to raising awareness and support for local cancer care in the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

This year's event was hosted at Pickford High School, with last year's game taking place in Rudyard. Sponsored athletes and coaches from both teams played in honor and memory of individuals impacted by cancer. During team introductions, honorees were asked to stand and be recognized, reflecting the event's deeper purpose.
