PORTSMOUTH, Va.(WAVY)-- Two people have died following two separate overnight shootings in Portsmouth.

According to police, officers were called to the 1st block of Decatur Street at 1:20 a.m. for the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive woman with a gunshot wound.

Minutes later, officers were called to the 1800 block of Effingham Street for the report of a separate shooting. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound.

Both victims were pronounced dead at their scenes by medics.

PPD Major Crime Unit is investigating both of these incidents.
