WAUSAU − A grand opening celebration will be held to mark completion of phase one of the City of Wausau Skate Park from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 10 at Oak Island Park, 500 River Drive in Wausau, according to a community announcement. The event will feature remarks from Mayor Doug Diny and an update on the second phase from Jamie Polley, Wausau/Marathon County Parks, Recreation, and Forestry director.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark the official opening of the skate park. Snacks and refreshments will be available, and Central Board Shop of Wausau will host a skate jam with cash prizes for tricks.
