EVANSVILLE — The Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission decided this week that there were issues with the transfer of a liquor permit to a new High Spirits store in Evansville's Fourth Ward.
The decision came after a public hearing at the ATC's Aug. 5 meeting, where it was tasked with addressing the Vanderburgh County Alcohol Board’s denial of the renewal of the permit for the store located at 321-329 S. Kentucky Ave.
The store has had opposition for months, with neighbors and city officials arguing the area does not need a liquor store.
