Emirates has announced that it will be prohibiting the use of power banks on board its flights from October this year, with a raft of other new rules relating to the transportation of such devices also being brought in. The changes come in the wake of various high-profile incidents where power banks have started in-flight fires.
While the Dubai -based UAE flag carrier will still allow passengers to transport power banks on board its flights, this will be subject to various regulations in addition to the airline's existing ban on such devices in checked baggage. With these changes, Emirates hopes to improve safety for the passengers and crew on its flights.
The Ban Will Come Into Place In Just Under Two Months
As confirmed in a statement released earlier today by the airline, Octob
