Michael Connelly is one of the premier writers of the thriller novel. In his 39 previous books, Connelly has entertained us with characters Mickey Haller (of Lincoln Lawyer fame) and retired LAPD detective Harry Bosch (Haller’s half-brother). Connelly’s current book, “Nightshade,” is also exciting, as he has introduced a new character, Detective Sergeant Stilwell of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Instead of a first name, Connelly only tags him with the nick-name of Still.

Still is stationed on Catalina Island, part of Los Angeles County off the California coast, and it’s clear to everyone that this was a demotion.
