Ketchum leaders on Monday tabled a proposal to increase pay for elected officials.

Currently, council members make $27,973 annually plus benefits. The mayor makes $50,350 annually plus benefits.

The council at a July 21 meeting discussed a proposal to raise council pay to $70,000 and mayor pay to $80,000, though the discussion was paused after deliberations grew heated.

The conversation restarted during Monday’s meeting with the scheduled first reading of an ordinance that the city would need to pass to raise pay. The ordinance did not include suggested salary levels, allowing council members to decide those numbers if they moved the ordinance forward.
