A Perthshire woman who drove ambulances in the county during WW2 blackouts will celebrate reaching 100 next week. ‌

Isobel McCallum, born on August 6, 1925, is to mark the special milestone with a family party at Scone’s Robert Douglas Memorial Institute. ‌

During her working life Isobel has also worked for Pullars of Perth and had been a Tele Ads rep for the PA. ‌

She drove a butcher delivery van during WW2 to outlying areas of the county as well as ambulances during blackouts - including the night of the Clydebank Blitz.

She recalled injured troops arriving at Perth station during WW2: “There would be between 30 to 50 ambulances, from all over Tayside, lined up right along the platforms, along the Caledonian Road to the station entrance on the Glasgow Road, waiting to take the
