The North Carolina Courage’s decision to fire head coach Sean Nahas on Wednesday night sparked immediate fan speculation and talk online, especially as the club offered little explanation for the move.

In a brief two-sentence statement, the team announced it had “terminated the contract of Head Coach Sean Nahas, effective immediately.” During a press conference Thursday morning, Courage chief soccer officer and sporting director Dr. Ceri Bowley repeatedly cited a “multitude of factors” behind the decision, but declined to provide specific details.
