Jocques Felix remembers walking onto campus at Cardinal Ritter four years ago, thinking it was going to be a cakewalk.

He was a highly regarded football player in junior high who dominated at that level without trying.

Felix, now a 6-foot-4 and 280-pound senior defensive lineman for the Lions, got a wakeup call on the first day of practice his freshman year.

"One of my teammates was big and strong, but I thought I could take him," Felix said. "He humbled me."

At that moment, Felix saw the degrees of what separated the top players from the rest.

And he was determined to be among the upper echelon of players who walked onto the gridiron.
