UK airport shut down after plane catches fire on runway

A UK airport has been closed this morning after an incident involving a plane. It has been reported that the small aircraft suffered an engine fire as it took off.

Norwich Airport said the airfield was closed while the incident was being dealt with an passengers should contact their airline before heading to the airport. ITV reported that the plane developed a fire in its engine on take-off, according to Norwich Aviation Centre.

A spokesman for Norwich Airport said: “We can confirm we are dealing with an incident involving a light aircraft which took place at 08:30 this morning.
