A geomagnetic storm watch, a meteor shower, and a full moon. A lot is happening in the next 5 days. Missouri stargazers will have an opportunity to view each of these events.

You may be aware that the Perseid Meteor Shower has been underway since July 17 and is expected to last through August 23. The shower reaches its peak on August 12 and August 13 when 50-75 meteors per hour are forecast to be seen.

However, the Perseids' peak is just 3 days after a full moon, not to mention we are also expecting rain and clouds between August 11 and August 14. The bad visibility from rain and clouds, and the added light from the full moon, don't add up to great viewing conditions in the Ozarks.
