A Scots holiday flight has been diverted to Manchester after a mid-air "technical fault". ‌

The TUI aircraft departed Glasgow Airport at 3.45pm and was due to land at Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt on Thursday, August 7. However, the BY314 flight was forced to divert a loop back towards Manchester Airport while flying over the North Sea. ‌

The aeroplane landed safely in Manchester at 4.52pm. It is understood the problem was due to an issue relating to the weather radar system. ‌

TUI confirmed to our sister title, Glasgow Live , that the diversion was all part of standard protocol and that the issue was fixed within two hours. ‌

The flight then departed from Manchester Airport at 6.13pm and made a safe landing in Egypt shortly after 1am on Friday..
