Cedar Rapids schools has the second largest student enrollment in the state but the highest-paid superintendent.
That's according to a list of superintendents' salaries , which includes monetary equivalent for benefits, from the Iowa Department of Education in the 2024-25 school year.
Notably missing from the top five highest paid districts is Des Moines Public Schools, despite enrolling almost double the amount of students anywhere else in the state. DMPS had 30,836 students in its jurisdiction last school year.
The district still sits among the top 20 highest paid superintendents in Iowa at number 16. Its superintendent Ian Roberts made $305,917 in salary and benefits in the 2024-25 school year.
