BATAVIA - The Batavia Police Department plans to carry out random sale sting operations to identify and shut down unlicensed cannabis retailers in the upcoming weeks.

"These actions are necessary to protect our residents from the risks associated with illegal and unregulated cannabis products. Only licensed and regulated cannabis businesses are authorized to operate within our city," police said in a press release.
