COLUMBUS, Ohio —
Vice President JD Vance's security detail had an Ohio river's water level raised last weekend to accommodate a kayaking trip he and his family took to celebrate his 41st birthday.
The U.S. Secret Service raised water levels on the Little Miami River ahead of the trip and now, critics are calling it an unnecessary use of taxpayer dollars.
Last weekend, Vance spent his 41st birthday along the Little Miami, but before he got in the water the Secret Service made a special request to temporarily increase the river's water flow to make sure the security crews could operate safely.
