YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- A man arrested by Youngstown police in May, who reports said had a large amount of drugs, was indicted Thursday by a Mahoning County grand jury.

Rodney Smith, 35, is charged with possession of fentanyl, a first-degree felony.

It is not clear when he will be arraigned in common pleas court. He is free on bond following his initial appearance in Youngstown Municipal Court.

The indictment stems from a May 27 arrest when a car Smith was a passenger in was pulled over by police on West Delason Avenue for an improper turn.

The driver of the car gave police permission to search it, and in the back seat, officers found a satchel that had a large bag of fentanyl inside, 35 fentanyl pills, two bags of crushed fentanyl pills and three bags of crack cocaine, according to
