ADAMSVILLE, S.C. (WBTV) - A skeleton found on a vacant farm in South Carolina last week belonged to a man who lived across the state line in North Carolina, officials said.

The skeleton was reportedly found in the Adamsville area of Marlboro County, officials said on Aug. 1. Sister-station WMBF said the human remains were located on a vacant farm while it was being mowed.

Nearly a week later, the Marlboro County coroner said on Aug. 7 that the skeleton belonged to Shelton Bennett, who lived in Scotland County, N.C., which is about 15 minutes from Adamsville, across the state line.
