PHOENIX – Authorities issued a Silver Alert early Friday for a man from Hawaii who was last seen in northwest Phoenix.

Winthrop “Winky” Whitaker, 76, went missing after leaving on foot from his sister’s house near 39th Avenue and Union Hills Drive around 7 p.m. Thursday.

Whitaker was upset upon learning of his sister’s health and is not familiar with the area, according to the Silver Alert. He also has a medical condition that may cause him to appear confused or disoriented.

The subject is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a dark colored shirt with the word “Aloha” on the front, dark shorts and sandals when last seen.
