There's nothing more frustrating than opening a product from a supermarket only to find it's gone off, or is inedible in some way.

If it's a relatively low cost item, it's often not worth returning it to the store with what you'd spend on fuel or public transport.

But one mum has discovered that at Lidl, you don't need to take the product back, you can simply WhatsApp the retailer to get your money back with a voucher to spend in store.

Posting on Instagram, the mum shared a video showing how she'd used the scheme to contact the retailer about a mouldy pepper.

She said: "Thanks so much to the lovely lady that dropped me a DM to tell me I could WhatsApp Lidl.
