Safety concerns and a lack of consultation were some of the key points raised by business owners in the Intercity area during an information session about the temporary shelter village.
The information session held Thursday morning was hosted by the City of Thunder Bay in partnership with the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce.
Approximately 55 people attended the session to ask questions and learn about the proposed 80 temporary shelter units that are to be built on a lot at the end of Alloy Place, off Central Avenue next to the Hillyard Lands Off-Leash Dog Park.
In July, Thunder Bay city council voted in favour of moving forward with the Hillyard site for the shelter village after rescinding an earlier vote approving a vacant lot on Miles Street as the location.
