Check the top of a Wikipedia page before you read, and you might see a new warning: “This article may incorporate text from a large language model.”

That label has been affixed to hundreds of Wikipedia articles, from “Danish nationalism” to “Natalie Portman,” over the past year as the platform’s volunteer editors grapple with an internet awash in writing generated by artificial intelligence.
