UPDATE 8/8/25 - A Springfield man who police said shot at another man who was attempting to steal his car has been sentenced to four years of supervised probation on a charge of unlawful use of a weapon.
Robert Lee Mitchell, who pleaded guilty to the charge in May, was sentenced to four years in prison, but the judge suspended execution of the sentence and sent Mitchell to probation and parole.
He is to serve 30 days of shock incarceration and was ordered to perform 100 hours of public service in the coming year.
