LORDSTOWN, Ohio - We now know who has purchased Foxconn's Lordstown manufacturing facility earlier this week.

Bloomberg is reporting that Japanese company SoftBank has purchased the plant. The sale was announced on Monday, August 4 with Foxconn saying it will continue to occupy and operate the plant.

The full transaction amounts for all assets, including the plant, as well as the equipment and machinery on behalf of Foxconn EV Asset Management LLC and Foxconn EV System LLC, totaled $375 million.

According to Bloomberg, SoftBank had approached Foxconn to get on board with its plan to build data centers and related infrastructure throughout the U.S., which led to the sale of the plant.

Bloomberg reports that the Lordstown facility may be used to house one of those data centers.
