A woman in her 70s is in a critical condition after being hit by a bus in Carlisle city centre.
Police were alerted to the collision at the city's bus station at 8:26am this morning.
Lonsdale Street was fully closed to traffic and pedestrians as Forensic Collision units conducted their investigation.
The woman was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
Cumbria Police are appealing for anyone with information regarding the collision to report it to them.
Stagecoach told commuters on social media that the bus station had been completely closed, with passengers heading west needing to catch their bus from Lowther Street or West Tower Street.
The bus station has since reopened.
