The New England Patriots play the Washington Commanders in both teams’ first preseason game on Friday night.

One of the Commanders biggest stars (wide receiver Terry McLaurin) has been at the center of trade rumors between the two teams for the entire month of August, since requesting a move out of the nation’s capital.

Patriots insider Chad Graff wrote recently that a deal between New England and Washington involving the two-time Pro Bowler was “ a bit unlikely ,” but that hasn’t stopped analysts and fans from discussing the rumors.

Former Patriots wide receiver Chris Hogan recently talked about the McLaurin chatter with Christopher Price of The Boston Globe and said, while a trade “might not make any sense,” he’d still inquire about the possibility.
