GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A man from Gainesville was arrested after running from Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies investigating reports of domestic violence in the Tower Oaks neighborhood.

Deputies arrested Khalil Barnett, 29, on charges of felony battery, marijuana possession, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, resisting, and evidence tampering.

According to the arrest report, Barnett and his partner got into an argument about allegations of cheating. He then started pushing her, and after getting slapped, he punched her in the face.

When deputies arrived, Barnett ran from the scene. They saw him drop a loaded gun and a large bag of marijuana.
