Due to the lower-than-normal amount of rainfall for the month of July, and high evaporation rates due to extreme heat over the summer, Cataraqui Conservation has confirmed a Level 1 Low Water Condition for the Cataraqui Region.

The Cataraqui region extends from Napanee in the west to Brockville in the east and north to Newboro.

Following a meeting with Cataraqui Conservation’s Low Water Response Team, a press release was issued by Krista Fazackerley, Cataraqui Conservation Supervisor, Communications & Education.

“A normal level would be if the region was receiving 80 per cent or more of it expected rainfall,” Fazackerley said. “The Cataraqui region, on average, only received 23 per cent of its normal rainfall for July.”
