In a case the county prosecutor calls “astonishing,” a Macomb County man was charged Tuesday with racking up his 30th offense for shoplifting.
Dwayne Effren Taylor, 66, of Clinton Township was arraigned Tuesday in 41B District Court on one count of first-degree retail fraud and being a habitual offender.
In a news release, Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido marveled at the accused man’s checkered past.
“His repeated disregard for the law shows a clear pattern of criminal behavior and a refusal to change course,” Lucido said.
According to prosecutors, Taylor was at the Target store on Gratiot Avenue near Quinn Road in Clinton Township on Monday when he placed $900 worth of merchandise in a shopping cart and left the store without paying for the items.
