JAMES CITY COUNTY — The James City County Police Department announced that speed camera equipment will be installed in designated school zones over the coming days.

According to JCCPD, Blue Line Solutions LLC, the county’s Automated Speed Enforcement vendor, has completed the necessary permitting to begin installing the equipment. Installation work will occur during daytime hours and will involve signage, radar devices and camera hardware along roadways near several schools.

The ASE program was authorized by the Board of Supervisors in September of last year through an agreement with BLS, and is designed to improve traffic safety in school zones by using camera technology to detect and cite speeding violations, according to JCCPD.
