A Baltimore jury found a man guilty of second-degree murder and two gun charges in connection with a fatal shooting on a Maryland Transit Administration bus.

The jury convicted James Richburg, 62, in the Nov. 30, 2024, killing of William Womack, 30.

Prosecutors said Womack was shot in cold blood — but Richburg said it was self-defense. During closing arguments on Thursday, the prosecutors told the jury, “The defendant did kill William Womack with a firearm. He fired a gun from near-point-blank range into Mr. Womack’s chest.”

The assistant state’s attorney said the MTA transit bus surveillance video clearly showed what happened, how Womack bent down to pick up a bottle he dropped, bumped into Richburg and did not say “excuse me” or apologize
