PHILADELPHIA — A potential starter in the Philadelphia Eagles ’ secondary was forced to leave Thursday’s preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals with an injury.
Sydney Brown, who’s pushing to start at safety for the Eagles this season, left the field and entered the medical tent in the second quarter after being involved in a hard hit.
Brown stepped up toward the line of scrimmage and collided with Tahj Brooks, Cincinnati’s 220-pound rookie running back. After making the stop, Brown stood up, pointed to his left shoulder while looking to the Eagles’ sideline and jogged off at Lincoln Financial Field.
Brown, a third-year player out of Illinois, spent time in the medical tent before returning to the bench and listening to safeties coach Joe Kasper offer up instructions.
