A Passaic County man has been charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 19-year-old man, officials with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday.

Nahum Maldonado, 63, of Paterson was charged with first-degree kidnapping, second-degree sexual assault and criminal sexual contact.

Authorities were notified about a sexual assault in Paterson on Aug. 20, 2024, when a man allegedly convinced a 19-year-old to enter his car and then took him to an isolated area where he sexually assaulted him, officials said.

Maldonado was identified as the primary suspect and arrested in the area of 15th Street and Lyon Street in Paterson on July 30, officials said.

No further details on the investigation were shared by authorities Thursday.
