PHILADELPHIA — It’s Tanner McKee’s turn to carry on the storied tradition of being the Eagles’ backup quarterback and that should have a lot of people excited, especially after the way he performed during the team’s exhibition opener against the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday night at Lincoln Financial Field.

With Jalen Hurts and almost all the offensive starters — the lone exception was guard Tyler Steen — safely tucked away on the sideline, McKee played the entire first half and one series in the third quarter. He was even more sensational than he had been last season during his two first two NFL appearances .
