PHOENIX – Crews made more progress Thursday as they work toward suppressing the destructive Dragon Bravo Fire north of the Grand Canyon.

After a second consecutive day with minimal growth, the wildfire was measured at 134,049 acres with 36% containment as of Friday morning, officials said.

The size was reported at 132,309 acres acres with 29% containment the previous morning.

The weather continues to be an impediment, with dry, hot and windy conditions keeping the fire active and dangerous. With wind gusts of up to 40 mph in the area forecast, a Red Flag Warning was issued for Friday.

Lines have been holding on the north end of the fire, but crews are still working to establish an anchor point on the southwest corner.
