Beautify Las Cruces affordable housing
I want to applaud the City of Las Cruces affordable housing initiative. The article in the Aug. 7 Sun-News laid out what seems to be a well thought out and much needed plan.
That said, why does the exterior of the Three Sisters units need to be so ugly? I know, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, but my eye calls the building ugly. What’s wrong with using the territorial style building that is so common here? Do architects need to make some sort of statement to justify their use?
Another example of architecture run wild is the extremely ugly NMSU performing arts building on University. I’d like to know why someone decided a building completely at odds with the rest of the campus buildings was a good idea. Why not continue with a building that
