NATIONWIDE — VOICE SERVICE PROVIDERS MUST STOP ROUTING FRAUDULENT ROBOCALLS to consumers, says a 50-state coalition of attorneys general, including Attorney General Letitia James of New York. After an investigation found that Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) providers were routing thousands of robocalls to New York and across the U.S., the bipartisan coalition sent warning letters to 37 demanding that they stop the calls. Their investigation also revealed that robocall campaigns were scams, with some impersonating utility or financial companies, Medicare, Amazon and tax relief services, among others.
