The Edinburg Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a 36-year-old man in critical condition following a dispute over property.
In a news release, police said officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Colt Lane for reports of gunfire.
“Upon arrival, an officer was flagged down by a concerned citizen who reported hearing shots and seeing a blue SUV leaving the area at a high rate of speed,” the release stated.
While investigating, an officer discovered a blood trail near a carport when an individual approached the officer, said his friend had been shot once in the chest and that he was being transported to DHR Health.
“Preliminary investigation indicates the victim and suspect are known to each other and were involved in a dispute over property,” the release stated.
