Tennessee Governor Bill Lee's latest proposal for SNAP would include prepared foods in the state.

Gov. Lee released his plans to "seek federal waivers" on Friday.

The proposal is said to ensure SNAP fulfills its promise of supporting healthy eating habits, improving health, and reducing chronic conditions for families with low incomes.

The proposed waivers focus on the following:

Prepared foods: "Enabling SNAP recipients to purchase hot prepared chicken, including rotisserie and non-fried, non-breaded items like grilled chicken tenders – offering convenient, healthy meal solutions."

Processed foods: "Excluding items listing sugar, corn syrup, high-fructose corn syrup, or a similar caloric alternative as the primary (first) ingredient."

Soda beverages: "Excluding beverages where
