After two years of waiting, the Arch Manning era is finally set to begin in Austin this season.
The former No. 1 overall recruit and heir to the Manning family quarterback dynasty has spent the last couple seasons sitting behind fellow former No. 1 recruit Quinn Ewers at Texas, but after Ewers' departure to the NFL draft, this is Manning's team in 2025.
While this will be only his first season starting, Manning will be eligible for the 2026 NFL draft following the season as a third-year player. As a result, there's been quite a bit of speculation that he'll be one and done when it comes to starting in college football.
Those assumptions may be a bit hasty, however. In a recent feature about Manning from Texas Monthly, Manning's grandfather, Archie Manning, seemed to shut that idea down.
“Arch isn’t going to do that," Archie Manning said of his grandson. "He’ll be at Texas.”
Well, there you have it.
Manning has started just two games in his career, which came due to injury, so it's not yet known how much demand there will be for his services in the professional ranks. It's possible he could be swayed later on, but Archie Manning seems confident that Arch will be a Longhorn in 2026.
