GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A man has been arrested in connection with the "accidental discharge of a firearm" that injured two children in Glens Falls, per the Glens Falls Police Department. Clinton Shanks II, 45, of Glens Falls, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and safe storage of a firearm.

On Saturday, July 26 around 11:40 A.M., officers responded to a residence on Walnut St. and found two juveniles with injuries consistent with a firearm. They were transported to Glens Falls Hospital, and then to Albany Medical Center, for treatment before being released.

Police said its investigation revealed the loaded handgun had been left unsecured in the home while the registered owner was not home. One round was discharged from the firearm, striking and injuring both child
