PHOENIX — A man suspected of committing sex crimes in Phoenix dating back to the 1990s has been taken into custody due to a recent DNA match.
Phoenix police said Abraham M. Ramirez, 54, has been arrested after his DNA profile was allegedly matched to four cases of sexual assault and kidnapping that have gone unsolved for several years.
The four assault cases occurred in 1998, 1999 and 2013. The victims ranged in age between 17 and 20.
Court records show a 17-year-old girl told police she was walking home on July 7, 1998 when a driver offered her a ride. The teen declined the offer but later accepted a ride.
