PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Authorities have arrested a man accused of multiple kidnappings and sexual assaults in the Valley dating back nearly three decades.
Phoenix police say 54-year-old Abraham Ramirez was recently taken into custody in connection with the alleged crimes.
Investigators say in 1994, Ramirez was arrested in California but never convicted of kidnapping and sexual assault, even after DNA evidence was collected from the victim. At the time, DNA was a new forensic tool, and there were no guidelines on how to process the evidence or enter it into a national database.
Then, between 1998 and 2013, four kidnappings and sexual assaults went unsolved in the Valley. The crimes involved two 17-year-old girls, an 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old woman. Investigators say the women we
