“The Pitt” Season 2 is set to debut one year after the release of Season 1, according to executive producer John Wells in a recent interview with Hollywood Reporter.

A little over three weeks after grabbing 13 Emmy nominations in July, Wells, a Carnegie Mellon alum, revealed in the Aug. 7 interview that Season 2 of the HBO Max medical drama will premiere on Jan 8., almost a full calendar year after Season 1 was introduced to streamers on Jan. 9, 2024.

The show was renewed for its second season in February. That season will take place 10 months after the events of Season 1, during Fourth of July weekend — a stretch that can be busy for hospitals. It will feature 15 episodes following the same format as the first season, with each episode representing one hour of a trying 15-hour shift
