A Monticello man was sentenced to 20 years to life in state prison Aug. 7 after a jury found him guilty earlier this year of first-degree robbery, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree grand larceny, all felonies.
Sullivan County District Attorney Brian Conaty said Robinson was sentenced as a persistent violent felony offender because of his previous criminal convictions for robbery.
According to Conaty, the jury found that on Sept. 17, 2023, Robinson walked into the Monticello Quick Mart Citgo gas station on state Route 42 wearing a face covering and armed with a knife.
He allegedly went behind the counter and threatened to kill the store clerk if he did not open the cash register.
The clerk acquiesced, and Robinson allegedly stole approximately $1,566 in cash
