INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Starting today, August 8, the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles will begin selling the new "Indiana Blackout" license plate.
"Sparked by the success of similar plates in other states, the Blackout plate has quickly captured the attention of Hoosier drivers," said the BMV.
The initiative was first launched by the Iowa Department of Transportation in 2019, and since then, four other states have adopted the design.
The BMV said these new plate "pairs well with many vehicle makes, models, and colors" and "its modern, minimalist design is viewed as a stylish alternative to traditional plates."
The Indiana Blackout plates will be available to purchase for an additional fee of $45. An extra $45 will be added on if you choose to get a personalized license plate
