Jersey City Man Sexually Assaulted Woman As She Entered Residence: Prosecutor

A 35-year-old Jersey City man was arrested by Hudson County Regional S.W.A.T. on Friday, Aug. 8 and charged with sexually assaulting a woman last month, authorities said.

At 11:30 p.m., on Saturday, July 26, a woman said Richard Murphy physically and sexually assaulted her as she entered a residence on Sussex Street, Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital where she was treated for her injuries, Mello said.

Murphy is charged with aggravated sexual assault, burglary and aggravated assault, Mello said.
