Plans to rebuild part of Finch Drive and close the busy roadway this fall warrant a different approach, Sarnia’s construction manager says.

Crews will have 40 days before Oct. 31 to complete the nearly $800,000 project, said Rob Williams.

“It’s up to the contractor when to start, but they have to be done before Oct. 31,” he said.

Sev Con Paving, currently repaving about 30 city streets , after redoing a section of Blackwell Sideroad earlier this year, was the project low bidder and awarded the contract in July.

Limiting the number of working days hopefully means reducing the impact of shuttering the busy arterial road to through traffic between London Road and Wellington Street, Williams said, noting he anticipates a September start.
