Police in Port Alberni are saying very little after a body was found in a burned-out car on Fourth Avenue early Wednesday, Aug. 6.

The car was discovered ablaze in a small lot next to the BC Transit bus depot. At 3:19 a.m., Port Alberni RCMP members were called to the 3700 block of Fourth Avenue to assist the Port Alberni Fire Department with the vehicle fire. Once the fire was extinguished, Port Alberni RCMP officers located unidentified human remains within the vehicle.

The discovery caused a few tense minutes for a resident from a nearby apartment building. Trevor, who did not want to share his last name with the Alberni Valley News, said the car belonged to his step-daughter.
