The tallest subway station in the five boroughs is set to receive a major accessibility upgrade, officials said this week.

The Smith-9th Streets station in Gowanus — which stands nearly 90 feet above street level and serves the F and G lines — will be outfitted with elevators for the first time since it opened in 1933, Brooklyn State Sen. Andrew Gounardes, Brooklyn Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon and the MTA said in a release.
